Privacy policy

You cannot create an account on PakNEV and we never ask for a password, an email address or a phone number to browse, compare cars, use the map or check in at a station. The only login on the site is our own admin panel for staff.

When you report a station as working, queued or offline, we store the station, the report, an optional queue length, and a salted hash of your IP address. The hash lets us count distinct reporters and limit abuse; it is not your IP address, and we do not store the raw IP with the report. If you choose to share your location with a check-in, we use it once, server-side, to record a single yes/no flag (were you within 1.5 km of the station), then discard the coordinates. We never store where you were. Check-ins age out of the public status after 24 hours.

If you list a home plug, you voluntarily submit a display name and a WhatsApp number for public display: that is the entire point of a listing, so drivers can contact you. Your map pin should be approximate (a nearby landmark, not your gate); we never ask for, store or publish your exact address. You can ask us to edit or remove your listing at any time via your manage link or by emailing us.

We set exactly one cookie on the public site:

• paknev_loc: your selected city and, if you tapped "use my location", the coordinates your browser shared. It exists so pages like the charging map and route planner can show your area straight away. First-party only, kept for up to one year, never sent to anyone but us. Clear it in your browser settings whenever you like.

The admin panel sets its own session cookie for staff who log in; it is not used on the public site.

A few things are stored in your browser's localStorage and never leave your device:

• your car comparison shortlist;
• your location selection (a mirror of the cookie above);
• timestamps that throttle how often you can check in at a station or leave a review, so the buttons can grey out without us tracking you.

• Mapboxserves our map tiles. When a map loads, your browser requests tiles from Mapbox, which sees your IP address and the map area you view, as any web server sees a request. See Mapbox's own privacy policy for how they handle it.
• Cloudflare R2hosts our images and media files; your browser fetches them from Cloudflare's network.

That is the full list. There are no analytics scripts, ad networks or social media pixels on this site.

To keep spam out, our server briefly holds IP addresses in memory to rate-limit anonymous actions (submitting stations, check-ins). These counters live in server memory only, are not written to the database, and vanish on their own.
